Growing up, life wasn’t all that easy for me. I lived in a development with my two sisters, my brother and my mother. My mother was working two jobs trying to support us all, therefore she didn’t have much time to spend with us. For entertainment we went to our developments homework club. Also at this time my older sister who I had looked up to had run away and I was extremely devastated. Lynn Pacuska, one of the volunteers at the homework club was helping me cope with this situation. The one day she had explained to me about a program she works for called Big Brothers Big Sisters and suggested that I should get involved. I joked to her all the time about how awesome it would be if she became my Big Sister but I didn’t think that it would really happen, well one day it did. Here it is eight years later and she has not only been my Big Sister but my best friend as well. We have had so many experiences together; I had the honor of being a part of her amazing family as well as seeing her get married. Her inspiration in my life has helped me to grown from an insecure child to a woman with great confidence. I feel that she was sent to me to guide me through life. I’ve had many obstacles to overcome and she was there guiding and encouraging me from start to finish. Here I am four months away from graduating high school, with such gratitude towards her. She has impacted me to be the person I have become today, I push my dreams to become realities and I stand up for what I believe in. Lynn that’s you all the way! To all the Littles out there cherish your Bigs, because they will be there for you from the beginning to the end. The memories you make with them are memories that will last a lifetime. A famous poet once said “Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts, and we never are the same...” Lynn thank you for those footprints... Love Always,
