“Walk around Wilkes-Barre” Event Announced

“Walk around Wilkes-Barre” is a casual evening of progressive dining
and entertainment for adults.  Tickets sales will be limted, 135.

Thusday, August 16, 2007, 5:30 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.

  • 5:30 P.M., F.M. KIRBY CENTER, hors d’oeuves by Dente Catering, drink, registration and entertainment
  • 6:30 P.M., LOWE’S RESTAURANT AND COCKTAIL LOUNGE, soup, salad and drink
  • 7:30 P.M., RAMADA WILKES-BARRE, Tiffany Room, dinner with a choice of prime rib or grilled salmon, drink and entertainment
  • 8:45 P.M., GENETTI’S, dessert with coffee/tea and dancing to a live band

* Cash bar available at each “walk” stop

* Ramada Wilkes-Barre and Genetti’s Hotel are offering room rate discounts for any “walk” participant desiring to stay downtown.

* Ticket price is $125/person and a portion of each ticket is tax deductible.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Bridge 2007 Summer Raffle

Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Bridge 2007 Summer Raffle is underway! Enter the raffle for your chance to win great prizes!  The top prize is a notebook computer donated by Custom Computers, Inc., followed by a Penguin’s Game Box, plus 14 tickets, donated by Citizens Bank.  Many other local businesses & individuals also contributed prizes, including: Vince & Alison Splendido, Blue Cross of NEPA, Sylvan Learning, YMCA, CBXMAN.com, Schott North America, People’s Choice FCU, Pennsylvania Business Online, Bedwick’s Pharmacy & Gifts, Wild Birds Unlimited, Barnes & Noble, Diane Mozloom, Altec Industries, Inc., Affordable Carpet Cleaning, and Grotto Pizza.  The cost of each raffle ticket is $10.00.  The drawing date is set for August 1st, 2007.

Chicky Cheer Clinic Donation

Cheerleaders at Dallas Senior High School held a cheer clinic (Chicky Cheer Clinic) for their senior project and to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Bridge.  There were 20 participants and it was held April 3-5, 2007 at The Rock in Trucksville.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2007 Prize Winners

Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Bridge is pleased to announce the Grand Prize winner of a Two Night Stay at the Holiday Inn Inner Harbor is Bob Derlunas of Nesquehoning. Mr. Derlunas raised the most money of any bowler in the program’s Bowl For Kids’ Sake event which was held in March at six sites throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. Mr. Derlunas participated in the event at West Hazleton’s Bowl Arena. In addition to the Hazleton site events were held at Stanton Lanes, Wilkes-Barre; West End Lanes, Brodheadsville; P-Nut Bowl, Bloomsburg; Fritz’s Lanes, Lehighton; and Shadowbrook Lanes, Tunkhannock.

Other prize winners were Chris Bedwick of Wilkes-Barre who won a two weekend nights stay and breakfast at the Double Tree in Wilmington, DE; Brenda Wolczak of Mountaintop won a one night stay at the Gettysburg Quality Inn; Joe Ignatovich of Falls won a one night stay at the The Saratoga in Saratoga Springs, NY; Ben Powell of Bloomsburg received a one night stay at The Chateau in Tannersville; and Irene Duggins of Saylorsburg received a one night stay at Comfort Suites, Scranton.

Jeanne Stapleton of Drums won a Big Screen Television in a drawing of all Bowl For Kids’ Sake participants raising $50 or more.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake raised over $225,000 in Northeastern Pennsylvania this year. The funds will be used to support mentoring programs throughout the five county service area covering Luzerne, Monroe, Carbon, Columbia, and Wyoming Counties.
