Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Bridge recently announced Attorney Robert Gawlas, Jr. and his wife Cathy as the Community Chairpersons for Bow For Kids’ Sake 2009. Mr. Gawlas is a partner at the law firm, Rosenn, Jenkins and Greenwald, LLP. He attended Dartmouth College and Dickinson School of Law. Mrs. Gawlas is a self-employed medical transcriptionist and a former Big Sister.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Stanton Lanes in Wilkes-Barre. Bowl For Kids’ Sake is the biggest fundraiser the agency holds. Each year, the money raised makes it possible for Big Brothers Big Sisters to continue to provide area youth with a special someone, who can make life changing, positive impacts on their life.

A 1995 national study proved that when compared with their peers, Little Brothers and Little Sisters are:

  • 46% less likely to start using drugs and 27% less likely to start drinking.
  • 52% less likely to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip class.
  • More trusting of their parents or guardians, less likely to lie to them, and feel more supported and less criticized by their peers and friends.

We all want the best for youth in our community and your participation makes it possible.
